Charting a Curriculum – Educational Charity

The general suspicion will show anyone what the curriculum for an educational charity program should be. But one thing is certain; the curriculum is different from the conventional education curriculum for schools. So when we talk about the possible curriculum for the educational concept above, it is necessary to be careful enough to avoid misplacing the values that are really the core of the concept.

The first point to note in determining what the curriculum reference point for the concept of educational charity is is the fact that the type of education package offered here moves beyond equipping the poor and disadvantaged with book letters, but goes further by fully empowering them to be creatively productive as a way to overcome their biggest problems; poverty, hunger and disease.

Here, education is not about getting a formal certificate; rather it is intended to equip the individual with the essential skills and survival required that will enable him to have unimpeded access to a minimum decent life. It aims to empower the poor to break the chain of eternal dependence on external interventions and charity as a way to reduce the impact of poverty, hunger and disease on the poor. The educational charity center centers on practical learning that gives poor people direct access to the labor market directly or far away.

A proper understanding of the arrangements and target groups of the above educational concepts is also needed to be able to provide charitable services or effective interventions. For example, the curriculum of a program that has rural peasant women as its target will certainly be different from the curriculum of the educational intervention program which aims to empower rural youth economically through ICT and similar packages. In the same sense, an education program after such a means intended for children in the world’s poor will inevitably focus on basic education to achieve minimum literacy.
